Dental Trauma

There are many types of accidents that can involve your teeth. Between a sports injury, falling down, a car accident, or even just being in the wrong place at the wrong time, accidents happen. Your teeth can only take so much abuse. If they were hurt, and you need to see a dentist about the pain, call our office at (410) 435-1234.

If you happen to have suffered a knocked-out tooth from the trauma, be careful with how you approach the situation. Only touch the chewing part of the tooth, and rinse it carefully. Once it is rinsed, put it into a jar and bring it with you to your appointment. Make sure you are careful to stop the bleeding from the socket while carefully preserving your tooth, by gently biting down on a bit of gauze until the bleeding ceases.

Loose teeth after dental trauma also need to be seen. If the tooth was knocked just right, the root may not be getting proper blood flow. This means the tooth could be dying and you may not realize it until it is too late. Come in and see us so we can x-ray the tooth and the root, and we can determine how to best address the situation.

Cracked Tooth Restoration

Cracks in your teeth can be not only painful, but also be dangerous to the health of your tooth. We recommend seeking immediate treatment to determine if the tooth is salvageable.

If you are bleeding, or in a lot of pain, those are other circumstances where you may need an emergency dentist. For those who also have a fever, you need to make sure you tell us that when you call. A fever is a sign that you may have an infection in or around your mouth, and that is something that needs to be looked at immediately. Please call us in the event of any dental trauma!
