Invisalign

Invisalign is a wonderful way of straightening your teeth. It allows you to shift the teeth around in your mouth over time, without the need for unsightly metal brackets all over your teeth. It is nearly clear, and is often undetectable by others if they don’t see you take it in or out. Here at Matthew Wallengren, DDS, we work with you to determine if your mouth would qualify for Invisalign, and if so, we help get the process started. Once your teeth are ready for the aligners, we transfer your care over to Dr. Nicole Brummer, who will help with the actual Invisalign trays.

What Is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a series of trays that you wear for upwards of 20 hours per day. You wear one set for about two weeks, then you trade that set out for a new set. Each set is slightly offset from the last, slowly pushing your teeth into their proper positions. This process lasts for 6-18 months, depending on how severe your malocclusion was prior to starting the process. This process may leave you with sore teeth some of the time, but it is often considered little more than uncomfortable. Gone are the painful days of metal braces, because Invisalign is easy to use and requires fewer visits to the orthodontist for many patients.

We will still see you here at Matthew Wallengren, DDS while you are undergoing your Invisalign treatment for all of your normal procedures, such as cleanings and fillings, or for emergency problems. However, you will call Dr. Brummer if you need to be seen in regards to your Invisalign trays not working properly.

Why Is Invisalign Better than Traditional Braces?

For most patients, Invisalign is the better option because of how easy it is to use. It doesn’t cause pain like traditional braces which can cut up the insides of your mouth, plus the trays don’t have the tendency to be brittle, like the ceramic versions of braces. They shift your teeth slower, which leaves you better able to manage any pain your mouth may encounter.

The trays are able to give you a more normal appearance than braces are, too. Braces are easy to see, even when you go with the white ceramic version. However, Invisalign trays are clear, which means you can smile while wearing them and very few people are ever going to be able to notice.

Contact your cosmetic dentist in Baltimore Dr. Wallengren, DDS and let us help you get the straight, confident smile that you have been looking for. We can get the process going here in our offices, and then we can help get you in touch with Dr. Brummer’s office so you can get the trays set up. Then, every six months, you will come back in and we will clean and examine your mouth, plus track your progress. If you have any questions during the process, you can always give us a call, too.
