Porcelain Veneers

At a young age our teeth are healthy white. But overtime the enamel coating the tooth is so slowly worn down. Causing our teeth to become stained and yellow, which is why teeth whitening is become increasingly popular today. There are a few methods for whitening. They include at home and in office. With in office treatments, you will see faster results, receive the safest treatment for bleaching the teeth, and yield the whitest smile. So, don’t settle for teeth that have become stained from years of coffee drinking, tobacco use, or just aging. Ask your dentist about whitening options that may be right you.

What are veneers?

Veneers are thin, custom-fabricated shells designed to cover the front surface of your teeth. Veneers may be made from porcelain or composite material, and they are used to correct a variety of dental problems, including:

  • Gaps between teeth
  • Chips or cracks in teeth
  • Misshapen teeth
  • Discoloration or stains on teeth

Veneers are an effective way to improve the aesthetics of your smile, and they can also help protect the teeth from further damage. If you are considering veneers, it is important to consult with a qualified cosmetic dentist to ensure you are a proper candidate. Dr. Matthew Wallengren finds that many patients love using cosmetic veneers to provide subtle or even dramatic changes to their smile’s appearance.

What is the process of obtaining porcelain tooth veneers?

The first step in the process is to consult with Dr. Wallengren to see if you are a good candidate for veneers. During this consultation, Dr. Wallengren will examine your teeth, mouth and smile. He may also take x-rays and scan your teeth to create a 3D digital model of your teeth. The next step is to create a pre-treatment design of what your veneers would look like and how they would function within your smile. Once that is complete, you would return to the office to prepare the teeth. This involves lightly sanding down the enamel on the front surface of your teeth to ensure that the veneers will have a natural and comfortable fit.

After your teeth have been prepared, we will make a digital scan of your teeth. This impression is sent to a special dental laboratory where custom veneers are made. While you wait, temporary veneers may be placed on your teeth. Once the final veneers are complete and sent back to the office of Matthew Wallengren, DDS, you will be scheduled for an appointment to insert the veneers by bonding them onto the natural tooth.
